Tiny Tapeout workshops are hands-on, beginner-friendly sessions, guiding participants through the world of silicon design. In just four hours, you’ll get a taste of how digital circuits are built and see your ideas come to life on an actual chip.
Each workshop is led by Tiny Tapeout founder Matt Venn or an experienced member of the Tiny Tapeout team, ensuring expert guidance throughout.

Participant feedback from our 2025-2026 workshops highlight the strong impact of our sessions, with high levels of inspiration to explore semiconductors further and consistently rating the experience highly.
“Tiny Tapeout is the most valuable project we have in the semiconductor industry for workforce development and innovation…”
— Jørgen Kragh Jakobsen - ASIC industry professional
“Tiny Tapeout is genius! It allows students, hobbyists, and professionals to easily create custom silicon circuit blocks, supporting digital, analog, or mixed-signal… indispensable for modern IC design education!”
— Prof. Harald Pretl - Senior Principal Engineer at Intel, JKU, Research Institute for Integrated Circuits
“Overall I’d give this workshop a 10/10 and would highly recommend it to others who are looking forward to something such as this.”
— Workshopper from University of Toronto, Canada
“I really liked how hands-on it was — actually building something and seeing it work made it way more engaging that just theory. The visuals helped a lot too, and the instructors were super approachable. It was a great intro and made everything feel doable and got me genuinely curious to learn more.”
— Workshopper from University of Waterloo, Canada
“It’s such a great opportunity, the host is great and entertaining, I liked his musical interludes, 10/10 would do again.”
— Workshopper from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
“I learned a LOT of really cool stuff - I came into this workshop with no knowledge whatsoever about how chips work, and now feel that I have at least a basic understanding of how they function!”
— Workshopper from University of Waterloo, Canada
“I came here with zero knowledge and was successful on the first run. Pretty neat.”
— Workshopper from Hackaday Supercon, LA

Is prior experience required?
Most of our workshops are aimed at complete beginners, no prior experience necessary!
Can you tailor workshops according to participant experience?
Yes, while our standard workshop is aimed at beginners, we can lead more advanced workshops if needed.
Do I need to organise my own teaching assistants to help during the workshop?
Yes. We can provide training materials and support, and recommend a minimum number of 1 teaching assistant per 10 attendees.
For example, a 50-person workshop should have a minimum of 5 teaching assistants.
Can I work with my own sponsors or partners to fund the workshop?
Yes! We can also provide promotional materials as well as reports from previous workshops to help you secure funding.
What kind of space do you need for a workshop?
The format of our workshops works best in a room suited for teaching or presenting. Classrooms, conference halls, or
lecture rooms have all worked well in the past. A PA or sound system that allows for use of a microphone and computer
audio input is required. Full technical requirements can be provided as necessary.
